In a world where humanitarian needs are increasing and donors are increasingly withdrawing, what works to ease suffering? In this report below from David Miliband of International Rescue Committee, there are some great insights about the innovation needed in the humanitarian sector. The article states: 💡 "We know what works: cash assistance, simplified malnutrition treatment, immunization and anticipatory climate action are consistently cost-effective and transformative. Our challenge is how to focus resources on these solutions which we know are effective." I wanted to pay my deep respects to Sir Mark Tully, the legendary “voice of India,” whose passing is a profound loss. I had the great honor of meeting him in 2011, when he opened the school I built in Turkahan, India through a grant for Project Mala. It remains one of the most meaningful moments of my life. I deeply admired Sir Mark Tully, not only for his extraordinary journalism, but for the authenticity, curiosity, and humanity he brought to every story he told. When I shared with him that I, too, had a degree in Journalism and asked his advice for my work with Baal Dan, he told me simply: keep telling the stories of the children you help. It was such a humble piece of wisdom, yet it has stayed with me and guided me ever since. I will always remember his warmth, his grace, and the way he used his voice to illuminate the lives of others. His legacy lives on in the countless stories he told and in all of us who continue the work of giving voice to those who need it most.
