FACTS ABOUT CHILDREN LIVING IN POVERTY
Baal Dan has created an agile model that gets aid to vulnerable children, who would have otherwise been missed by larger organizations.
_______
_______
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is at the root of our values and philosophy. Without ensuring a strong foundation in life and ensuring that basic human needs are met such as shelter, safety, food, water, medical care and education, it is hard to progress and escape the cycle of poverty. If children don’t have adequate protection, shelter, care, food and education, they cannot survive or thrive. “Catching” a child early in life and ensuring they are provided with these basic human rights ensures more positive outcomes for the rest of their life.
_______
- A child dies every 10 seconds from malnutrition, with 3 million children dying from hunger every year.
- Conflict and natural disasters have disrupted the education of 75 million children.
- Impoverished children are more susceptible to malnutrition, develop fewer skills and earn lower wages as adults.

EXAMPLES OF WHAT WE FUND
Baal Dan currently provides funding for food (staples such as rice, lentils, cooking oil, eggs, milk etc.) and vitamins. Everyday, Baal Dan feeds over 1,000 children in the care of orphanages and service organizations because without food and consistent nutritious meals, children can't learn or thrive.

One of our proudest achievements was sponsoring girls education all the way through elementary and high school from 2006-2016 at the Loreto Sealdah School in Calcutta, India. Baal Dan invests in school supplies, text books and education sponsorships because education is a way to break the cycle of poverty and keep girls from getting pregnant too early in life.
|
Over the years, Baal Dan has built schools, classrooms, toilets and wells in India (Calcutta, Hyderabad, Kaliayampoondi, Delhi, Pune), Pakistan (Karachi), Nepal (Kathmandu and earthquake impacted villages), Zambia (Lumwana West), South Africa (Johannesburg) and Haiti (Croix de Bouquet) because access to clean Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) is the foundation of health.
